She would then spend the rest of her life advocating for blind people, as well as campaigning for women's suffrage and worker's rights. Keller, who lost her sight and hearing due to illness when she was a baby, would go on to attend Harvard University and become the first deaf and blind person to gain a Bachelor of Arts degree. First published in 1903, after first being published in the Ladies' Home Journal in a series of installments, the book details her early life, and her experiences with her teacher and companion, Anne Sullivan.
